Oregon(Shiyan)Amperex Technology Co. Limited plans to invest US$482 million to expand its lithium battery production base in Thailand.
On the evening of November 10, Oregon(Shiyan)Amperex Technology Co. Limited issued an announcement stating that, in order to further improve the production capacity layout of its subsidiary Oregon(Shiyan)Amperex Technology Power in Thailand and meet the needs of the company's future business development and overseas market expansion, Oregon Amperex Technology Power and Oregon(Shiyan)Amperex Technology Power plan to invest in the construction of the second phase of a green energy lithium battery factory project in Thailand with their own and self-raised funds. The investment amount will not exceed US$482 million (approximately RMB 3.419 billion), and the final investment amount will be subject to the actual investment of the project.


The second phase of the Thailand project is jointly funded by Oregon(Shiyan)Amperex Technology Co. Limited. and its Hong Kong subsidiary, and implemented through the Thai project company, Oregon(Shiyan)Amperex Technology Automotive Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The project has a planned annual production capacity of 17.4 GWh and will include a newly built production park and supporting infrastructure. Of the funding, 29% is self-raised funds (approximately US$138 million), and 71% is financed through bank loans (approximately US$343 million).
The first phase of the project in Thailand (with an investment of US$259 million) has completed trial production, laying the foundation for the second phase of construction. The new project still needs to complete the filing procedures for overseas investment in China and the approval procedures in Thailand.
This investment aims to improve the company's global production capacity layout, serve the needs of international customers, and enhance its competitiveness in overseas markets. Through the continued expansion of its production base in Thailand, the company will further increase its market share in the global new energy industry chain.
